Ellen Wilkinson - Anyone have a daughter there?

I am trying to pick a secondary school for my daughter and was very impressed with the open day there this evening but I have also heard it has a bit of a reputation for bitchyness/bullying.Does anyone have any curent or recent experience that can help me make a decision?Basically it's EW or Elthorne.Thanks.

I did not go there but a very long time ago when I was at school EW were known to be aggressive,  and witnessed one pupil punching a school friend of mine who had done nothing wrong....well apart from being a bit posh which is obvioulsy a very good reasaon to thump someone?!  So my "knowledge" is very out of date.

Hi.I can't speak about Ellen Wilkinson but I do know Elthorne very well. Both my son and daughter went there. Downside was that they didn't have a 6th form but now they do. Both my kids were happy at Elthorne and it suited them very well. Both were slightly above average academically (BUT certainly not the brightest) and neither suffered any bullying.I don't think Elthorne 'pushes' them academically though. And I suspect the Ellen Wilkinson performs better, but that could juts be because it's all girls.Sorry, that may not be very helpful.

My daughter is currently in the final year of 6th form there and she has not had any problems.  It's a very good school in my opinion.

Thanks,You see that's the problem, the school looks good but anecdotally all you ever hear  is bad :-(

Hi Julie,  All I have to go on is the fact that a neighbour's daughter was apparently the victim of bullying at that school.Maybe wait for more comments before deciding. Good luck!
