Whilst parking at Charing cross hospital today I had a polish chap try this pretended he picked the ring up next to my car, handed it to me through the car window, walked away for about 15 seconds then came back, I had seen the previous posts about this so had tossed it onto my dash, he asked if it was gold so I said I doubt it and passed it to him, oh yes it's Hallmarked he said, he put it back on my dash and asked me for money, I said no thanks it's not mine or yours shall I hand it in ? Or take it to the police station and just like the previous poster he left very quickly leaving me with a plumbing joint dipped in quite good quality gold paint and marked to look like a hallmark
