Best Mobile Signal W13

Hi allI'm in Northfields W13 and have always been with T-Mobile as my phone provider.  A coupe of months ago, the T-mo service dropped off the radar to the point where I couldn't make or receive voice calls or even text message!After much complaining to T-mo, it became obvious they had no interest in my issue and I switched to GiffGaff (which runs on the O2 network).This seems only very marginally better.Can those of you in my area tell me who you are using as a mobile provider and the kind of reception you get. All processors (and indeed all high speed digital circuits of any stripe) generate RF interference - generally at multiple frequencies (known as harmonics) related to the original clock speed of the circuit.I'd be surprised if this was a significant factor in your problem as, being such a fundamental issue of the physics of the situation, it is right up there at the top of the list of things for any phone designer to get right.

I'm just off of northfields, am with o2 for mobile, home phone and internet, and have never had a reception problem, the only time it goes a bit wonky is in Waitroses carpark presumably something to do with the train line.

Re    elderly plain Nokia phone which works where many others give up.            xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx  yep, I can concur with that. Have old Nokia which is not brilliant indoors but new Samsung S 111 is much poorer!.

Re  the kind of reception you get.        xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx indoors at W5 the reception for o2 is very poor, the number of calls I miss is horrendous

I use the Internet with 3G.I had signed up for a 24 month Fixed contract . Eleven months have passed and I have regretted ever changing my former Broadmind provider.The signal Keeps dropping off too frequently and is very very slow.To make bad worse the monthly rental has been increased by 3.6% less than half way through the fixed Contract. "Which" The consumer magazine is now leading a campaign to stop such firms increasing their Fees between Fixed Contracts,OR to allow the customer to terminate the Contract at this point.If you are a user of 3G or other such Technologies you can ring 01992 822 800 "Which" and find out more . Mark, your experience a few months back could be down to Everything Everywhere rolling out "smart signal share". In essence it's a technology that enables their masts to determine which legacy network will give a 3G handset the best signal - so calls, data and texts are automatically re-routed over the old Orange or T-Mobile network. This is now working pretty well in practice but only works on 3G handsetsOver the next 4 months (completion before Xmas), the 2 old networks will be merged into one single one - with more transmitters in more places than any other network (nearly 3 x the number of masts that Vodafone or o2 have). When this happens (customers are being migrated in batches) the symbol on your phone will change to "EE". If it hasn't happened for you yet, it will do, and it should give you a great signal everywhere, although the problem you describe isn't one I've experienced at all in W13 on T-Mobile, so it could just be your phone.

Signals are so variable! I am coming to the end of my two year contract with Vodaphone and I can't wait to leave! I live north of Uxbridge Road in Hanwell and its bleedin' hopeless.

I have been told that many "smart" phones have a processor running at a clock frequency so close to the transmitter frequency that they generate their own RF interference. I have an elderly plain Nokia phone which works where many others give up.

I live just off the southern end of Northfield Avenue. I can only get a decent signal on the Vodafone network.

I've used 3 for a few years. Live on Northfield Avenue, and find reception to be fine indoors and out.Should mention that I use Wi-Fi indoors and rarely use my phone for actual phone calls, but occasionally switch to 3G even indoors, and it's been fine.I find that my reception drops to nothing when travelling on the tube between Northfields and Acton Town, while others around me, presumably on different networks, obviously keep a signal.I should also point out that two years ago, before I had a smartphone which worked over wi-fi, I lost internet coverage in Ealing and up to Hammersmith completely. I think they were replacing some towers, but it took so many phone calls and so many different "explanations" before it was sorted. A very frustrating experience, although I did get rebates on my bills after continuously complaining. Not noticed any significant outages since then.
