Tax paid

Why does everyone always refer to race and immigration on these forums? Why can't we focus more on those who pay tax and those who have become long-term beneficiaries if we really want to discriminate? Surely it's more about what you give to the motherland?Tony price, let's hear your story...

Heard this morning on BBC radio that one Tory MP described Osborne as "manipulative" and Cameron as "a wolf in sheep's clothing". Perfect timing for this thread...Redruth, in Cornwall, will be  hosting their annual Cornish Pasty festival on 21st September. I am sure you will find a consensus amongst all stallholders who will want George to get lost if he tries to come!

Ben you rightly raise the question of discrimination elsewhere, but then you fall down by espousing another form of discrimination.The attitude of some of the rich and powerful sometimes is contemptible, but so equally are some of the attitudes of some of the working classes who have gained influential positions.Fortunately there are many from these backgrounds who have admirable values.If you despise a government because it includes Old Etonians then you should despise a government containing Union firebrands. It’s not logical.

Not at all.I delight in the success of self-made business and political leaders.However, even as a lifelong Tory voter, I do doubt the credentials of someone who has known only privilege, not of their own making, in identifying with the issues facing the majority of the population.I do judge him by what he does but the real lack of any economic stimulus (that does not simply benefit the top 0.5% in isolation) to balance 'too deep, too fast' cuts could mean that this is a one-term government and a swift return to Balls and the disasterous management by Labour of the economy that got us into this damned mess.

The Indian and Chinese will hopefully save some of our failing businesses and buy out the unoccupied properties - in the hope the population of this country will rise and get the demand side going.

The way N L allowed the Welfare dependency to mushroom is killing this country. Five and half million on  Disabilty Benefit, what the hell has the N H S been doing  to boost numbers to that level. Utter madness and  prevents us from competing in the world. Ask Indians if they get Child Benefit or Disabilty Benefit and then see how they can send rockets moonwise , Tata to buy Jaguar/LandRover or our steel industry.

The lover of a cornish pasty with arisotcratic connections you won't find him marching down the Uxbridge Road next week. Now do you agree to my argument?

Have no doubt that there are reforms that are needed, but the way the Tories are going about tweaking them is weak, unfair and shameful. A government that has Old Etonians as leader and chancellor who cannot bear to cap the income of the undeserving rich – with their mega bank bonuses  – but is quite happy to cut off funds the poor by taking away their unemployment benefit unless they do unpaid work is a government who should be given a one-way ticket by NASA to go to Mars.

I'm a 2nd generation immigrant, educated, paid tax all my working life (through PAYE rather than any 'schemes'). Most indigenous racists I have come across tend to be the work shy who blame their inability to find work on immigrants. In fact, most people I have come across who have issues with ethic minorities tend to be those who have deep shame of the fact the have contributed nothing to the state (like most BNP supporters). Ultimately it is Labour to blame for creating such a bloated welfare state.

Our friend is a newbie, only been on the Forum for just over a week but somehow seems to know what has been going on for  a long time. Seems a loaded question to me, one designed purposely to attack the person, with undertones of aggression.  Probably one of the here today and gone tomorrow types?.

After all,you should never ask someone to do something you would not do yourself imo.
