If we could do it there ,we could do it anywhere

The Olympics and the success of our Youth fill me with much happiness.  I am sure most of you feel the same.Why then do we find that we cannot repeat the success throughout the year in other walks of life.? The latest bombshell is the parting of the ways between the liberals and the Conservatives.Has David Cameron conned the liberals into a pact that he had no stomach for .? Is our Olympic Euphoria going to be short -lived.?

Eric,the last paragraph hit home  on reality. I would so love to disagree with you but,it would be futile. Let us all hope that The summer of 2012 will be remembered for the Olympics mostly.

The Olympic Village will survive as a housing estate and some of the sports facilities will survive. The improvements to Stratford Station are also excellent and permanent. However some of the sports facilities are just temporary structures which will disappear at the end of the Games.The current unofficial estimate of the final total cost of the London Olympics is £22 billion.A certain 'legacy' is that all the UK Olympic 2012 Gold Medalists, if not already, will be millionaires by 2013. Believe me I have enjoyed the Olympics on TV , just as  I have enjoyed other TV Olympics over many decades.Finally after Jubilee frenzy and Olympics excitement, we'll all have to soon return to the harsh reality of zero growth; continuous reductions in disposable income and GDP;hospital closures; and benefit cuts.

I see your Point Michael. We have seen a fortune spent on the olympic extravaganza. There is no mileage to be gained on what it has cost the nation in money and effort put in to the existence of the 2012 Olympic,however there is much to be gained from it. It would be another FIRST for the Nation if our Politicians put it to good use. I second your call.

What worries me about the much talked about Olympic Legacy is the facilities that are not available free, or low cost, to our young people. We should have a blitz on estates, providing facilities for them. There should also be cultural chances and community gardens. Come on you local politicians, stop thinking politically, and take the Olympic 'torch' and make changes we can see and value in the future.
