manhole cover

A manhole cover outside the main site of the Acton Gardening Assoc was 'stolen' on Monay. I rang Ealing Council as it is both dangerous to cyclists and pedestrians. It's a foot from the pavement. Nothing has happened yet, despite the council assuring me something would be done. If any accident happens then the council will be sued. Get on with it. And why have metal manhole covers, because thieves are taking them from all over London. Heavy plastic would do the same job, and have no value.

Thanks to EalingToday the council duly arrived on friday and replaced the metal manhole cover with another. I like the Cumbrian idea. Come on you council people think future. People steal metal! Think alternatives.

:-) Drain and inspection cover.My mate lives in Cumbria and the theft of these is rife. His LA have started using an 'engineering plastic' as has been previously suggested.The council must treat gaping holes in the road like this as a priority, even if they just secure a boiler plate over it.

It is also dangerous for motorists as well.I know because I drove down a hole left when some ars*hole took a cover off a manhole jct. Ealing Rd/London Rd.a couple of years ago.
