Ealing Urgent Care Centre
Having not needed A and E for a year or 2 i had to go up to. Ealing Hospital today after a hand held Dyson fell on my toe last night. i was surprised to find that there is now an Urgent Care Centre (effectively a minor injuries walk in clinic) run by Care UK next to the A & E department. I was in, examined, x-rayed, reviewed, treated, booked into the fracture clinic and out within an hour and a half, which has to be a record. I found the whole thing a bit bizarre though, the UCC appears to have nothing to do with Ealing Hospital, the staff work for Care Uk, but major injuries were sent from UCC to A & E. the system in my case worked infinitely better than before but it confused me. If the A & E is closing does the UCC remain? And why is it subcontracted out? I've not heard of this happening within a hospital. Is it really cheaper for them to subcontract out than do it themselves?
