What is it really.?Or Just a Technical foul Up.?

I have often found Post offices,Bank Branches,and other Government offices idle because they say that their Computers are down.The enqiry clerk assures me it is just "Hiccup",another tells me it is a just a "Glitch". If we do not know what caused it ,whatever it really is, how are we going to know whether it was just a careless Technical Fault.?If Glitches are just hitches : and HiCupps just Stiches,how do we know when we  are not in  Technical Ditches .?

As far as I can figure someone, possibly a very well trained programmer in another country, was trying to maintain some old outdated code running on an unnamed system. It was probably not being attempted in house because the bank had dumped its own trained staff, and there was probably no chance of running any tests before the change. Dumping their own qualified staff probably added another bonus for the top people, just like allowing fragile but high instant return investments without proper control.

I would imagine that by 'British' they mean people born and raised here, such as the ones who carried out the tube bombings in July 2005.

It now not thought to be "Glitch". I  like many of you hear, that some Technical failures like those of RBS may even be attempted Cyber Attack. Did I hear correctly.? The News definitely also states that hundreds of British people are travelling to the middleEast to train as terrorists.It is quite worrying when governments do not make it clear what the "GLITCH"is. Why do they talk about the possibility of a Cyber attack. Who are they describing as British people that are going abroad in numbers to train as terrorists, or are they describing People who have accquired  British Passports.? Let us have the truth or our fears will ferment the imagination. Is there a suspected link between the issues .?

According to BBC Radio4 many of the banks are running ancient systems that are difficult to maintain, and they now outsource their IT requirements across the world.Almost immediately the subject was changed to threats on cybersecurity and the costs to business.

It would be good to know what kinds of problem exist, although I would be surprised if we will be told. There are still many organisations running on systems that are known to be insecure and prone to crashes, despite their sometimes considerable cost, yet legal restrictions prevent any customer from even attempting to fix these problems.
