I'm not saying that an electrician/plumber/whatever shouldn't provide a mobile number for ease of contact, but that his address and landline number should also be easily obtainable. It's far too simple for a dodgy contractor (and I'm not for one moment suggesting that this applies to the man in question) to dump a mobile number if dissatisfied customers are after him.I know a couple of people who don't use their landlines at all and I can see the logic in it. Sadly, banks etc have yet to catch up and I've heard of people being refused mortgages and other loans because they have no landline so it might be wise to think twice about scrapping the landline for the time being.

Afraid I've got to disagree with you. If it wasn't for my wifi connection I wouldn't bother having a landline anymore - and I'm sure many people are the same. Also, if you're a self employed contractor out on jobs all day you're hardly going to be sitting at home waiting for the landline to ring. Anyway, as far as Tim, the electrician I recommended, is concerned you have no worries over his reliability.

I can't get that web address to work.I'm put off using workmen who only provide a mobile number. It seems increasingly common. Am I being old-fashioned, or do others feel the same?
