Greenford to Paddington Line

I read that, with CrossRail coming, it will be terminated at West Ealing.  Will Greenford to West Ealing be the shortest branch line in UK, and will it be viable?  Seems a bit of an oddity even now.

The Romford Garden Suburb in Gidea Park - built in 1910/11 - is certainly 'exotic' compared to the rest of Romford, especially the Harold Hill Estate.

It may be just as viable arrangement as we have now - except that Greenford travellers will get off at West Ealing and get on a new super Crossrail train into Paddington, the City and even on to exotic places like Gidea Park.A more 'viable' question is whether the small new Crossrail West Ealing Station planned to be located in the narrow Manor Road will be adequate to cope with the 1,200 additional residents in new Green Man Lane Estate and to 'house' those in transit to and from Greenford. The latest plans for Crossrail West Ealing were due to be unveiled months ago but so as yet we only have the old small station plans.
