New coins and parking meters

The parking meter machines at Gurnell Swimming Pool no longer take the newly-minted 5p and 10p coins. I am told the council is aware of this, but no sign of anything being done to fix it. Is it only at Gurnell this is happening?

I am reviving this thread, which has been running since June last year.Despite complaints by me and others, the parking meters at the Gurnell Leisure Centre still won't accept newly-minted coins. This is making parking there increasingly difficult as old coins are withdrawn from circulation.To add to this, the meters still haven't been changed over to GMT and even if the hour were corrected, the minutes would be nearly five minutes out. The only plus for those using the car park at Gurnell currently is that they get an extra hour on their tickets because the machines are still on BST -- assuming motorists have old coins that the meters will accept.The management at Gurnell say they are responsible for emptying the meters, but nothing else. Complaints to Ealing Council get no response.

They wouldn't bother.Thier attitude is to simply ignore you and fine you extra later.I am currently arguing with the t*ssers regarding the fact that their web site is not fit for purpose in that it cannot accept payments.Their response is not to fix the f'ed up web site but to point out that there are other payment methods.I hate them all.

Yes. That should do the trick -- with the added benefit of provoking a nervous breakdown in the parking department as they try to work out how to process promissory notes.

Re  old coins to use in the meters            xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx    if one tenders coins of the realm, surely that should be sufficient to avoid further  trouble. Send a Promissory note to the Council admitting you were there for a certain period of time but as no practical means of payment, you could not, and through no  fault on your part, hence your admission and promissory note!.

The Gurnell Leisure Park meters STILL won't accept recently-minted coins. How long is this going to continue? Soon there won't be enough old coins to use in the meters.
