This is a public Facebook page, you don't need to log in to see it: http://www.facebook.com/SaveTheStarliteGreenfordIf you are a FB member please "like" it and forward the link - I don't bombard people with loads of posts so your timeline won't be clogged! At present the list of bands on the FB page is as follows:Jo Jo Gunne, Geno Washington, Pinkerton's Assorted Colours, the Small Faces, the Who, the Quiet 5, David Bowie, the Yardbirds, the Troggs, the Move, Zoot Money, the Midnights, the Action, the Mode, Julian Covay and the Machine, Steampacket, the Symbols, Cliff Bennett, Cream, the Gass, Fleur de Lys, the Bystanders, Eric Burdon and the Animals, the Creation, the Syn, Pink Floyd, Warm Sounds, The Jeff Beck Group, Human Instinct, Breakthru, Alan Bown, Chris Farlowe, the Marmalade, Legay, Honeybus, The Gods, Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, the Knack, the Triads, the Easybeats. The Pink Floyd line-up included Syd Barrett, David Gilmour joined a little later. Steampacket included Long John Baldry, Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger, Vic Briggs, Richard Brown and Micky Waller. Unfortunately Rod Stewart had left by the time they played the Starlite. The Yardbirds line-up that gigged there probably included Jimmy Page but Jeff Beck played there with his own band. The Easybeats were a very well known Australian band. The Gods included Mick Taylor who then played with the Stones. A member of The Action went on to set up Ace, who had a huge hit with "How long?". Members of the Syn went on to Yes. Julian Covay and the Machine (video/track: http://youtu.be/zJ1D_BKSoH0) is on the family tree of a number of bands including (I think) ELO.I'm trying to find evidence that Amen Corner and Stevie Wonder played there. Radio London held a number of "Big L" shows there and I'm waiting for info from their archivist on this.  There is an excellent blog post about the Quiet Five here http://musiccourtblog.com/2012/02/14/kris-ife-and-the-quiet-five-a-little-morning-sun/ and I am very grateful to Matt for blogging about the Starlite here: http://musiccourtblog.com/tag/pink-floyd/ What a shame that people around the world are taking an interest in our music heritage while it is largely ignored by those living with it on the doorstep. What I really need at the moment is feedback from people who went there as well as information on the time it was converted from a cinema. Who played there first and when? What did it look like inside? Chris Ife told me there was a glitter ball and that the band had a good view of its audience there.
