Japanese restaurants

Any of you good people tried Kiraku or Sushi Hiro, both at Ealing Common? What did you think? Opinions much appreciated.

For anyone interested the food at Atari Ya last night was fabulous.Not expensive either.

Both are excellent.....I use both. You might also like to consider Sushi World in Pitshanger Lane which, despite it's name, offers a wide range of authentic dishes. All three are staffed and owned by Japanese which I dont think is the case with Okawari.  brgds  Andy

Worth calling the day before to book. I highly recommend the fatty tuna nigiri. It's out of this world.Depending on how comfortable you are sitting at a bar, and how curious you are...ask to sit at the bar (it's not pub-bar height, but you sit alongside your fellow diners rather than at a table) as you can watch the sushi chefs working away industriously preparing your meal.

Atari Ya is more popular with the ex-pats Japanese than K, which may not be so original Japanese food.

Sushi Hiro is now Atari Ya. Pretty much the same set up, possibly even the same staff. It's brilliant. Best sushi I've had outside of Japan. Very little space, and short opening times, but very good value for the quality. I used to go to Okawari on Bond Street but it's gone way downhill as the prices have gone uphill. Haven't been to Kiraku as we always opt for the purist sushi/sashimi option, but a friend has recommended it highly to me several times.
