New  Leaf  Restaurant

Yesterday a friend and I went to the New Leaf restaurant in Bond Street. I think it was the worst Chinese meal I have ever had. The service was dismal and perfunctory. The young waiter kept saying "cheers", which was very irritating.I tend to go to Queensway for proper Cantonese. Better value all-round as the portions are huge and the food is delicious.For decent High Steet fare I go to the North China.I cannot see how the New Leaf can possibly survive with their dreadfulfood. Years ago it was one of the best. Obviously it is now owned by new people.Has anyone had a good meal there? Did we just go on a bad night?

North China is quite the best Chinese restaurant in Ealing and has been so for many years.

I like the North China, down the Uxbridge Road just on the Ealing Common side of Acton.Maxims I reckon are getting a bit complacent.

So which is the best Chinese restaurant in Ealing, then? Being a Northfields denizen, I'm quite a fan of Maxim, although I think their standards have slipped of late. Nice atmos, though.

There are many in Queensway. I go to The Magic Wok.Terrific fair (Cantonese duck etc). Service is relatively cheery. Do try it.

Well it is a shame that so many people have not enjoyed the experience. It was out first visit to this restaurant, and needless to say, our last.

We went there last year with family visiting from Australia.The service was S L O W, orders mixed up.Waited ages for dessert and when we asked why the delay they said they were busy doing 'takeaway orders' but we were actually sitting at the table waiting for our food.In the end we left as we had ordered a taxi.Worst restaurant we went to and it was an embarrassment to have taken people there. Never again!

They have a poor reputaion for hygene...I'm surprised anybody uses it at all.

Queensway (station) on Central Line turn left. Magic Wok (reasonable) and Royal China (up market)

Used to be very good, but have not used them after the food hygiene issues a couple of years back, sad to see they have gone further downhill.

Same old, same old.Sadly it's been going downhill for ages.My wife and I went there for lunch about eighteen months ago. We were glumly shown to a table and waited twenty minutes for any reappearance to take our order,it wasn't particularly busy. When the first course hadn't arrived after a further twenty minutes we simply got up and left to shouts of "you must pay for what you ordered".So, we didn't get a chance to experience how bad the food was.
