Recognising truth from rubbish

Are the Ealing Council personnel responsible for administering the Environmental Services Contract clandestine Conservative supporters – why else has Roger Jones (Ealing Council, Director of Environment and Leisure – and the Cabinet empowered supervising officer) allowed this debacle to continue for so long under the Labour government. What controls have Labour put in place to address the core issue, or is it a case of the tail wagging the dog again.Is this politics or incompetence?

I doubt that much will change. I doubt that Labour or Conservatives will do much. If you take into account that Walpole Park and Gunnersbury Park and the like have been in steady decline for the past ten years (let alone the allotments and other open spaces) the cosy nest of councillors and council officers will only try to make sure that their nests will continue to be feathered. Take for example the Ealing in Bloom Competition which has for several years involved Conservative Councillor Nigel Sumner in the running of it who has won a prize for his allotment in each of these competitions for several years for his allotment. Then consider that this year he has been joined in running the competition by Labour Mayor John Gallagher. Then consider that the competition makes use of free facilities provided by Ealing Council and a sponsored prize by the council in the competition under the aegis of the environment area of the council, and if you consider that Roger Jones, the environment director of the council, and Keith Townsend, (his boss) are responsible for the provision of this prize and these facilities the way the council operates is illustrated. I doubt that there will be much change there.

I would like to think that hey are smart enough for this to be politic rather than sheer incompetence, but I fear that this lot would find a two-piece jigsaw a challenge!
