Refuse/recycling collections, again (sorry).

It was the correct day for my street's collection this morning.  My plastics, tin cans, glass bottles, paper, cardboard were, together, all thrown into the back of a single truck.  I didn't see what happened to kitchen waste.I know it has been stated that the 'sorting' occurs in a depot - but I am not convinced.  What depot?  How is the sorting done?  And why are we asked to separate carboard/paper/plastics/tins/bottles when it all goes into one void in one truck?

My food waste, first put out for collection last Monday, was today collected! HURRAH!Maybe 'Weekly Collection' means collected after a week...

My food waste was put out, as instriucted, at 7:00am on Monday 23 April.It's 8:10pm on Saturday 28 April and it's still not been collected. How can this be? £250 millon for this?

Currently there is virtually no facilities in the UK that sorts all waste. Especially food from recyclables.This is because it has now been pre sorted for some years (by residents and collection services)  and facilities are now geared to singular separation of recyclable waste.Someone is being misinformed and no doubt it it the naive and gullible Mr Mahfouz. He should demand that Enterprise take him to this sorting facility to see for himself what they are doing.If this mess does not come good by this week then he and the officers concerned must bite the bullet and resign.

Thanks for your replies, Samantha and Susan.What we are being told about Ealing's new waste/recycling arrangements does not make any sense.  We were told that we are going to be supplied with new, square plastic boxes (with so-called 'hair net' straps) specifically for our plastics waste.  Has anybody been issued with such boxes?  And why was there talk about new boxes when all plastics/tins/bottles/paper/cardboard gets thrown together into one truck?And (to repeat my earlier question) in what depot is the re-sorting of the combined waste carried out? Nobody - not even the so-called Council - seems to have the answer.With this fisaco, the Council are making monkeys out of the residents.  Of course, I'm sure there won't be any such laxity when the Council dim-wits (almost certainly) raise our council tax bills next year.

I noticed this too Andy. The food waste went into a little section at the back of the truck on the right hsnd side, everything else went in the back with the crusher!! I was wondering how they seperate it, as surely, all the glass gets broken ect.I will keep putting plastics in the white bag, but I will no longer be sorting the rest of the recycling - waste of time, it can just all go in the green box.....
