FREE collection of Garden Waste
Although I am not a subscriber to the garden waste service, my street's garden refuse, left in old pink bags, was collected free of charge this morning. Wednesday is our regular refuse / recycling day.I've been forwarded the following statement by Cllr Gary Malcolm, which comes from Keith Townsend, Ealing Council's Executive Director for Customer Services, which I'm sure will be of interest to all Ealing's residents. I have edited it ever so slightly."Hopefully I can clarify the situation. Any garden waste presented should be collected on [your normal] collection days irrespective of whether a resident has subscribed to green bags. What is supposed to happen is that anyone who has not subscribed to the service should be given a card to explain how to do so, although in the difficult couple of weeks we had, I would be surprised if this happened consistently. This arrangement will be in place until the end of April. The arrangements from May are that for those residents who opt not to subscribe, their garden waste will not be collected. At this stage, there are no plans to alter that arrangement, although it will be kept under review. However, if anyone has experienced missed collections, the same message applies i.e. leave the recycling out". Cllr Gary Malcolm would like to be e-mailed of any problems that you may have with your garden waste not being recycled. Hiss e-mail address is Gary.Malcolm@ealing.gov.uk
