Jean, this was the case till a couple of years ago: i.e. street cleaning took place the day after refuse collection. The reason being that anything could affect the collection round: road works, flooding, burst pipe, accident and so on. If collections were delayed it did not interfear with street cleaning. It was this administration's idea to change it on the day of collection. However, considering that refuse collection and street cleaning are handled by the same contractor, why on earth can't they re-schedule the street cleaning for the day after - even if, as they claim, it is only going to be a 'temporary' arrangment, or till such time (June???) they have got their hands on the full quota of refuse truck?
