The rubbish collection scenario has highlighted deeper problems within Ealing Council that need to be scritinised. The inability of many people to post on-line complaints about non-collection and the long waiting times to talk to someone are not unique to the rubbish situation however they do come under the same heading within the council's directorships, that of Environment and Customer Services. Furthermore, there was the council's instructions not to report streets where rubbish had not been collected as street inspectors were patrolling Ealing borough, yet no street inspectors appeared to be doing anything anywhere.Clealry there are deep problems that need to be examined here and based on track record over the past ten years changes need to happen in the internal council management structure. This can only happen through a thorough review of the management of this whole area. What is also worrying is that Enterprise, the new contractor, is also responsible for parks, open spaces, and allotments. None of these areas can be said to have been well-managed over the past decade, yet the thought of lawn mower of the wrong size going through what is left of Walpole Park is very worrying.
