Removal of uninsured car

How do you go about getting uninsured car removed as its been parked in front of my garage gates for 3 months

Of course you can't get a VED (road Fund) license without a valid certificate of insurance which many reprobates then simply cancel.I agree ask the local police to check it out just in case it's some poor sod's car that has been stolen and dumped.

Technically, a vehicle only has to be insured if it is being used. It is only being untaxed that makes it illegal to be parked on a public road.If you have managed to ascertain that it is uninsured, then you also know whom the keeper is. Have you tried to contact them? The police will do it for you if it is an obstruction. Maybe they are ill or have been posted abroad? Maybe the car is stolen. We had one was parked a few doors down for months. Gradually it got dusty and it's tyres went down. After a call to the police it turns out it was stolen. The irony was that it was just 100m from the police stn and all the officers used to park their cars in our street!!

Mmm. If it's taxed there is probably little the council can do. Insurance may be on a group or traders policy where indidual registrations are sometimes not recorded although by law they now have to be. So, technically it is uninsured. The DVLA only seem interested in unlicensed vehicles, the only option would seem to be a non-emergency call to the local police.

Still taxed but not showing insured on insurance database It's been unmoved for 3 months Council seem to be very slow

I guess you mean tax not insurance - and has it only just run out?I presume you have already done the asking around of your neighbours if your garage has been blocked all this time, but have you? Or have you just been watching the calendar for the tax to run out while a neighbour may have forgotten or the car may be stolen?Helen has the right bit of the Council website though.You can report it online.

The answers below only apply if it is on the pubic highway.If it's on your land, my understanding is that, you are 'on your own'.We had to get an abandoned vehicle removed from our church car park a few years ago and the council could do nothing as it was outside their desmense. Actually, they suggested a 'disposal contractor' who took it away for free.
