International Women's Day:  Do you know how to wipe your bottom?

Urinary infections can cause confusion and whether or not you have ever seen the ladies in the ward for the elderly who are there because they have one - and the staff have to try and stop them from escaping, then check out this video.I have seen a lot of it recently with the poor overworked staff trying to keep them safe.  One lady 'escaped' from EAU and the police had to go out and look for her.  She had taken the bus and gone into town and was window shopping.  After a course of antibiotics she was as right as rain.Drink enough water and make sure you are wiping your bottom properly - front to back.  (Men are designed differently!)  :)http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Urinary-tract-infection-adults/Pages/Introduction.aspx

LOL: No interest in Andrex - I'm not aware that they make anything 100% recycled! We're very happy with Nouvelle which is 100% recycled and made in Wales.  Lidl's failed the softness test - we're sure they changed the mix - but we may go back and check sometime when our bottoms are feeling braver. Otherwise any other supermarket 100% recycled by preference.Has anybody spotted one of those bottom cleaning loos anywhere public in the UK?  Hotels?  Restaurants?  They've been using them in Japan for decades.  That seems to be the direction that Chiswick is going in. I think they  spent a day having palpitations over the post and then came over all funny with a spoof bottom cleaning apparatus review.Both Allison and Carol reckon they are alright. Poor Granny has been left to her own devices.  No thoughts offered for the poor overstretched staff in the hospitals trying to keep these people safe and look after everybody else.We all knew that we had to put our babies to sleep on their tummies.  Times and views have changed.  We don't now.Meanwhile wards for the elderly can look like a scene from Night of the Living Dead with confused people trying to escape home through cupboards or out in lifts in their pyjamas and wandering up and down wondering where they are.  Sometimes it is just a urinary infection or constipation or the side effects from a medication - not dementia - something that could be picked up earlier and dealt with if somebody recognised it.International Women's Day is about the advancement and empowerment of women.  You can do with it what you will.

As I've never had a UTI I must be doing something right and was taught by my mother who is now in her 80's and she's never had one either, and that's all I'm going to say on the matter.  I agree there are far more important issues such as domestic abuse being covered by International Womens Day.

On the contrary, I imagine most women know damn well not wipe faeces towards their urinary tract.  There's a couple of generations of us whose mothers told us about this and explained why and whole lot of us who have educated ourselves and read things like Our Bodes, Our Selves.  Good luck everyone with asking your grandma whether she knows how to wipe herself after many decades of life...

I expect that most people think that they know how to wipe their bottom without realising that the way they are doing it or not taking as much care as they might could cause them problems if not now then in the future when they are more susceptible to UTIs. More knowledge gives more empowerment.It is a very informative video. There is always something new to learn.And don't just look at your age group.  You not only have to think outside the box nowadays you have to look outside the box.  You will then be able to spot when you need to get treatment for Granny for a problem "down under".

Quite frankly I can think of a lot of other ways of marking IWD than talking about urinary tract infections and wiping our backsides properly.  Do you seriously think the women posters on this forum don't know this already?
