HEINZ TOMATO FRITO

Please can anyone tell me if any shops in Ealing or nearby stock this product?  It is used a lot in Spanish cooking and is a Delia "cheat".  But despite that, none of the main supermarket chains stock it.

We’re still pushing on with the distribution of the Heinz Tomato Frito after the success of Delia’s programme & have been listening to the feedback on the forums regarding availability & postage costs.We’ve recently signed an agreement with Amazon to make the product available through them – it means the cost is considerably less for the customer. It’s £12 for a pack of 12 jars & postage is included as part of Amazon’s service. Sadly lots of places used to sell it but Heinz no longer import it. Still popular 'sur la continent' but seemingly not in the UK.

I used to use this as well. It's not made by Heinz UK but imported from Heinz in Spain. There were threads on cook sites last year bemoaning the problems in getting hold of it, ususally now only from small specialist suppliers. Plenty of on-line suppliers who, when you check, have no stock.A good substitute is Sainsbury's Onion and Garlic pasta sauce, also tomato based, or Tesco's Pasata (the Organic one is thicker and has the right consistency) to which you can add a little onion powder and garlic powder to taste.
