One further point - In the PDF they claim that the bikes used are their own 50 cc scooters, maintained so as to minimise noise.(Engine size is irrelevant. Any teenager so minded could tweak the silencer of a 50cc sufficient to deafen anyone standing within 100 yards) They also "admit" that they train 4 pupils at a time. Whether this is to be believed necessarily, when they may have a waiting list and they could as easily train say 6 or more isn't for me to say.I'm no expert but I remember having seen films of them riding around in a circle with the instructor in the middle. So the noise being complained of, is the combined sound of a minumm of four (and maybe more if they're lying) 50cc motorcycles all going at the same time.I'm no expert but I'd imagine theres a big difference - which can be shown by Db readingsin the nuisance value of four or more bikes going at the same time. As against one.And this as they themselves admit is for two hours at a time three times a day.Including Saturdays. The nuisance potential of this - and the fact that they've attempted to misrepresent this nuisance by the implication that its "only one likkle 50cc bikey wilkey" - rather than 4 or maybe more all going at once  simply cannot be stressed enough. In any representations made.In my opinion at leastGetBikes whole approach to this matter, judgingboth by your posts and by their own planning submission appears to be characterised by misreprentation and utmost bad faith. Some of the arguments so called which they are seeking to present to the Council - the reason for the use of mikes and earphones etc are so ill thought out and/or blatantly dishonest IMO as can be seen as being an insult to the intelligence of the committee. I've lived in Ealing more than long enough to remember when the sole tenants of that site were the Orion Works, an optical manufacturer. There used to be and maybe still is a similar lightengineering works in Julian Rd at the bottom ofNorthfields Ave. Both of these were and are far different in character and nuisance potential to this present operation.Presumably Getbikes chose this site because of its proximity to Northfields Station conveniently forgetting (for them) the fact that Stations normally attract house builders. There are probably far more suitable sites from a nuisance point of view available in the vicinity of the Great West Road. But then you can't expect customers to have to walk all the way from Osterley Station, when you can make people's lives a misery by setting up in aresidential area instead. What annoyed me about this was reading of your experiences with these people, and contrasting this with the "touchy feely" "here to help" baloney on their website. Speaking of which. One of the Managers of GetBikes has a very distinctive name which is a pushover for any subscribers to the 192 website.Of course what they might chose to do with this information would be entirely up to them.       michael adams...

Phil Taylor wrote -As a result of a request by the Ealing council planningenforcement people Getbike have applied for planningpermission to regularise their current use of this site. They don't believe they need this additional planningpermission but they have complied as requested. In her original post on this topic Carol Atkinson veryspecifically complained of noise on a Sunday and shoutingfrom the instructors. As this is the nature of hercomplaint it seems very unlike that Carol Atkinson could have been mistaken about which day of the week it was.And yet in their attempt to "clarify" the positionin their renewed application for for planning permissionas linked to in Phil Taylor's post Getbikes claim asfollowsGET Bike sell and repair motorcycles and also offer motorbike training courses. These courses are run on Monday to Saturday. There is no mention of Sunday there. So that straightaway they  are lying in seeking "clarification" of what the current planning permission allows them to do.Carol Atkinson's complaint isn't that the present planning permission is deficient but that Getbike are knowingly exceeding what those regulations allow. And it would appear are quite prepared to lie about having done so  afterwards. It isn't helpful, although it may be convenient from their point of view for Ealing Council to issue documents in a PDF version which oesn't facilitate cut and paste quoting.Although if Get Bikes have anything to do with it the reaons maybe ren't difficult to guess. Thus their claim that instructors and pupils communicate using headsets so as "reduce noise disturbance" is so spurious as to be laughable. The reasons the instructor and pupils need to communicate using headsets is so as to be able to make themselves understood over the noise of the bikes.Again the claim that the use of the site bike trainingis no different to operations that would occur on a car parknormally is similarly ludicrous. The last time I listenedparked cars, or heavy goods vehicles for that matter don't make any noise.Other points The very fact that they installed "sound proof" fencing at one point means they realised there might be a problem. They're now stuck with a situation where its obvious that their solution to the problem clearly hasn't worked.Previous planning permissions issues are an irrelevance. If there have been no previous recorded complaints concerning noise from residential properties to adjacent to this site then this is all that matters. There are complaints now.Similarly the results from measuring noise levels from the site as a whole in people gardens at various timesis an irrelevance. What matters is the noise levelin the gardens of Carol Atkinson and her neighbours on Sunday mornings when Get Bikes instructors were shouting instructions. Nether of which they admit to having done.    Get Bikes were previously in Trumper's Way. Why did they move ?They've now opened a second site in Wimbledon whichGoogle Maps satellite view shows to be in the middle of a trading estate, and indeed far removed from the nearest house.I am not a lawyer, nor a politician. Neither am I familiar with the relevant procedures. However looking at the planning application it looks so poorly argued and to be so full of holes as to be obviously the work of an amateur.Maybe Get Bikes simply can't afford proper professionalrepresentation in order to try mitigate their breaches of planning regulations. The lie about their not having flouted the existing regulations by training on Sundays, contrary to their claims, could presumably be easily demonstrated to the Committee either by evidence given in personby Carol Atkinson and her neighbours, or by sworn affidavits.michael adams

I also live on Belsize Ave and have had a long running issue going on with Get Bike. Last year i contacted the council and consequently found out that in fact it was illegal for them to operate on any sunday on Bank Holiday, they have been operating illegally. You will have noticed they have now stopped opening on sundays and bank holidays. However i am still pursuing if there is anyway they can reduce the noise on saturdays. They operate their turning point right at the end of my garden and wake me every sat morning, they shout so loud I now know how to ride a motorbike! And like others on here i have found them rude and aggressive when approached. In fact during the christmas break when they opened illegally on a bank holiday and I went over to the site to record it , one of the instructors , a very angry young lady, grabbed my phone and smashed it and then lied to the police and said she thought my phone was a weapon and thats why she smashed it! I am trying and not having much luck due to data protection to get the owner of Get Bikes details as I want to personally write to the owner as the management have no respect for the residents. I always feel like i am the only one complaining and therefore have felt like i am fighting a losing battle so if anyone wants to join up in this i would love to hear from you. There must be away we can reach a compromise , i don't want to ruin there biz but I do think there is room to make it ok for everyone. We on Belsize Ave pay the same council tax as other Northfields roads that don't have to put up with the noise and pollution so surely we have a case to take up with the council. The noise office are aware of the issues and are trying to be helpful so maybe we would have more joy if we joined forces esp with the summer (hopefully) on its way.
