Siam Orchid no more?

I have returned from holiday this weekend and tonight headed down to my favourite Thai restaurant in Ealing - The Royal Siam Orchid near Ealing Common.But it was closed. The shutters were down. They have been there for years and years and we love the food and friendly staff. They usually close in January or February for a few weeks when they go to Thailand on holiday. Im hoping that is the case now but there is no sign on the shutters and it seems a strange time to close as Christmas is a busy time. Im hoping they havent had to close down. Does anyone know?

Happy New Year everyone. We did eventually manage to get a babysitter so headed down to TN for their new years eve party. We had an amazing time - food was great, we loved the cabaret show and then a disco which got everyone up and dancing (young and old). At 10mins to midnight, every table got a free bottle of cava so we saw the new year in very merrily. Cant believe theyve held this party every year and we didnt know about it. Fun place and amazing staff. 5/5

We tried again last night as my husband had a craving for a green chicken curry. Sad to report that the shutters are still down.So we headed down to Thai Nice. We went a few years ago but werent impressed. But for a cold and wet Monday night it was surprisingly busy. Nice Christmas atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Importantly, John's green curry and my red curry were delicious. (maybe the Royal Siam Orchid's chef has been taken on!) Not BYO but a good selection of wines.If we can get a babysitter we might go to their new years eve party which looks like fun.

I sincerely hope that Royal Siam Orchid has not closed, we have been regulars for years too.

if it has shut down i can recommend the Thai Kitchen at the Foresters pub in Northfields.

I still cant find out about this restaurant. It remains closed with shutters down and no signs up. Ive called hoping there would be an answerphone message but it just rings. I guess it has closed for good. What a shame.
