PIE needed

Hi all,We've got some friends over from France, and they've mentioned as one of the things to do when they are here, is to find a good pie+mash place, and a good fish+chips.Now Fish+Chips we're gonna go to the one in Pitshanger (as that's where we live), but for the Pie+Mash I've no idea. Seems to be lots of places in London 'claiming' to be the best, but I really don't wanna get there and find a bowl of stew with a puff pastry top whacked on the top. Any recommendations of good places, or do I just make my own! :)Thank you lovely Ealing people!

No traditional pie and mash shops are open in the evening. It's a lunchtime dish. The bast pie and mash shops are M. Manze's (all in the East end with a newish one in Sutton) and the latest closes at around 5:00 on their 'late night'The nearest you will get to an 'evening' opening is Cooke's in Hoxton which closes SHARP (even if you are still eating) at 7:00pm.It's a shame, as there used to be pie and mash shops in Brentfrord, Hammersmith and Walham Green.

If you are looking for pie and mash as it should be the nearest place is Cookes in Goldhawk Rd just by Shepherds Bush market.  It's certainly not fancy but it is traditional
