The Forester

I'll start a new thread as the other;s so long.Public opening is tomorrow Friday 28th. (My son, who works at the Kings Arms, is at a private celebration there tonight, with the new owners, who also run the kings arms). I have great hopes.. it's a fabulous building with great potential, and if the Kings is anything to go by, that potential will be realised.  Go, Forester!!

Just wandered in for a lunchtime pint and am delighted they have not gutted the place and have actually retained, as far as possible the 'heritage' features.Whilst they do not appear to have taken up my CAMRA Locale suggestion as yet(Pride does not count)the beer on offer is pretty good and I enjoyed a West Yorkshire Timmy Taylors. They do not appear to have the beer pumps in operation yet and they served me direct from the barrel. No problems with that but it would be good to have the hand pumps up and running soon.The beer garden looks like it still needs some work but I suspect it is a work in progress and hopefully will be ready early next year. The toilets have had minimal work done but are fine for me.My only gripe is the price of the food. They have gone for the inevitable pricey 'gastro-style' menu which is fine if you are loaded. We will stick with the value Thai menu thank you.Welcome back and the very best of luck Foresters.

Oh deep joy indeed with the really aleloders and the handy pumperloppers. (sorry - been following professor unwin on twitter)Now.. is it The Forester,singular,or Foresters plural? NOT Forester's or Foresters' - although one of the signs used to say "Thai Forester's". But people will insist on calling it The Foresters as they do with Tescos. JW Sainsbury had to cave in and rebrand as "Sainsbury's" - even with the pointless apostrophe.

I walked past last night and wandered in to the private celebation.  My intention had been just to look at the place but free beer was forced upon me.The pub looks glorious.  It is very exciting indeed to have a pub just round the corner that we'll actually want to go to.

i'm sure they will. I believe they are keeping the thai food (quite right as it's very good and very popular) people on - only without the swirly carpets!

Yes it is exciting having a (hopefully) decent pub I can actually walk too. It's such a lovely building too. Lets hope the food and beer come up trumps as well.
