Flower for mystery injured man

Contrary to rumours floating around Twitter earlier, our mystery hero is alive but in a critical condition, and cannot be identified because he is unconsciout and was mugged trying to defend Springbridge Road.I'm trying to find out where he is (hospital) so I can send some flowers - you can contribute to my fund here:http://www.prelovedreloved.co.uk/2011/08/buying-flowers-for-a-mystery-man/I'd like to by them from Flower Haven on the green which was badly vandalised, does anyone know if Simon is there? I think perhaps, we should let Julian reply to the people who have already raised money in aid of this tragic event, and I'm looking forward to hearing what he says. What's been said is right, he couldn't have done nothing, as that would have caused more outrage, but it would be nice if he worked with the local fundraisers collaboratively instead of now ignoring them.Lets all take a step back for a moment, and see what Julian does next, I'm sure knowing everyone's kindness and emotions he'll do the right thing.

Nope, not a knee-jerk reaction that I regret at all. Where was our dear Councillor earlier this week when the man was in hospital when we as a community kindly came together to buy him flowers? Now that RMB has died does Julian Bell want to get on the bandwagon in front of the cameras, knowing how unpopular he is in the area. That and the fact that he has repeatedly ignored my emails of request for support and collaboration stinks to high heaven. I really do not like this man's public image and dislike it even more so now. I think it's tragic that JMB would use this as a publicity stunt - a man's death. Poor RMB, and his family. I hope he felt no pain in passing, I cried when I heard he'd gone.

(I am sure this was a knee-jerk response that you now regret).The Leader of the Council is quite right - on behalf of our WHOLE Borough - to do this, and I can only imagine the torrent of abuse had he not done such a thing. He could not win, could he? To simply dismiss it as a stunt is not worthy of you or anyone else.Let's drop the point-scoring for a while and think about this poor man, those people that knew him and how they must now feel and the courage he showed in doing what he did.Some quiet and dignified reflection now, please.

Police are still trying to find out his identity.  There was a description on PM tonight (but I can't remember it accurately enough and haven't seen it written).  They think he is local.

I don't like to put a downer on your good intentions, but if he is still in the Intensive Care Unit, I doubt that they would allow flowers. So I would check first with sister-in-charge, as to what their policy is. Will drop some money into the florist anyway so that maybe a collection can be arranged and flowers sent, when he is transferred to a ward.
