New Emergency Unit for Ealing Hospital

Any comments? I made experience with this earlier this week, and was a bit surprised to be directed to a GP in the Urgent Care section  with my son's broken wrist.The leaflets they have by the counter explain the type of injury the urgent care centre deals with and which the old A & E, which you can see as you are whisked into the urgent care bit. A & E deals with life or death injuries.  But, don't you call an ambulance for those, which use a separate entrance anyway?So, it appears, old A&E is now redundant.

Agreed, closure I fear is the only way forward. Ealing Hospital has fallen apart totally. It is better that lives are saved by travelling further than by keeping an institution that is clealry unsalvageable going. I can not understand why our Labour MP Vivendra Sharma is publically running a campaign to save this death trap: surely this is a vote loser? Surely the only people who want to keep this death trap open are the health sector trade unions (who are probably leaning on Sharma). I know of no one who would go there out of choice.Surely Sharma, Ealing Labour, and the health service unions must have some mote of humanity towards the preservation of human life?

The whole place is a disaster area. I am still awaiting results of a CT scan from over four weeks ago. At the same time I have received an appointment for an operation to correct something found on the scan. No one has discussed this with me. Cue yet more contact with the totally ineffective administration at Ealing. A sad joke and our community deserves far, far better.

I think this an attempt by the Ealing NHS Trust to try and address the serious shortcomings of Ealing Hospital and Ealing Hospital A and E. One friend of mine who was sent there a couple of weeks ago by his GPs practice nurse to have a cotton bud (!) removed from his ear was told after two hours waiting that they did not have the facilities there to remove it and he would need to be referred to an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) unit in another hospital as the Ealing Hospital ENT was only part time. After kicking up a fuss another Registrar fron the Trauma unit appeared rather than minor injuries unit got the right facilities in seconds (a pair of alligator forceps), said: "I do this all the time with four year olds" and had the bud out in seconds!Another friend who was sent there today with a chronic problem (which I won't detail as I wouldn't want the Ealing NHS people to identify him for obvious reasons) went to the new contracted injuries unit today and spent a good five hours waiting for test results there. It is not clear what is happening at Ealing Hospital however it does appear that things are not right there yet!
