Ealing History
regardng the article on Ealing place names in the early 1920's I am lead to believe the Western Ave the A40 did not exist. My father travelled to N. Acton from Poplar to work at the Mond Nickel Co. of Canada whose industrial building was in Basheley Rd and still exists. I understood it was the first industrial building in the area and a footpath lead across the fields to their employees housing estate which was Canada Rd, Highfield Rd & Allen Way. The four houses in Allan Way were the foremans houses. Gypsy Corner was an actual site for gypsy meetings where two footpaths crossed over one path leading to Acton and the Uxbridge Rd. Can anyone confirm this.
