Just putting a notice saying "bank holiday bin collection times" on the website is not the way to do it. Usually bin collections are delayed by a day after a bank holiday so most people just assume that that is what is going to happen. You need to say "Bin collection, THIS BANK HOLIDAY IS DIFFERENT because, " on the website.

P.S. If it were the Conservatives doing the car park I would be saying exactly the same things. It seems to me that whoever we elect based on whatever promises they do something completely different to their own ends.

The lack of information from Ealing Council is symptomatic of the mismanagement of Ealing by the Labour administration. Too many managers and too few workers. An obsessive interest in car parks in Southall and Marxist state ownership in bringing Ealing Homes back into the incompetance that is the town hall while cutting front line services for the disabled, mentally ill, and everyone who uses the libraries while protecting over 80 highly paid and through personal experience rather nasty and very unmotivated senior managers in Ealing Council.If we say nothing about what is happening that is wrong are we not in part responsible for what comes out of it and do we not lose our priviledge of participating in a democracy based on discussion, words and ideas?If you think that Labout is doing a good job and representing the views and wishes of Ealing's residents please say so I would like to hear about what they are doing that is good and is not a PR gimmick in Southall at the expense of all.

Bins - yes, the topic in question. I too would have liked a note through the door, but while I agree with some it would have been nice, it's not really the end of the world, and I'm not sure turning it into a Pro/Anti Labour thread again is helpful.

Why do you think that I am trying to score political points? I am a resident of Ealing who thinks the Labour administration is not fulfilling the requirements of Ealing residents and hence no longer has a mandate for office.

Bored of you trying to sabotage every thread to your own ends. I actually agree with you in the main about the website but in the instance you are wrong. Your approach only serves to detract from the political point scoring you are trying to achieve.

I think it has to do with the paucity of information being disseminated by Ealing Council under the praesidium of the Labour Group which is using typical Stalinist tactics of not letting anyonr know anything, even when the bins days are!

I would suggest that you try finding something that has happened in a committee meeting on a particular topic.Seriously, try getting into the press release/news release section!

To be fair to the Council - if you go on their website they could not make this information much easier to find. I googled Ealing recycling this morning, one click took me to the website recycling page the next click a list of the dates for pick up!

There's a lot of things that one would like to know about from Ealing Council however it is all about mushroom management. God forbid that the electorate and the residents have a say in anything whatsover.Have you noticed how appalling the "new" council website is. It is almost impossible to find anything using the search capability as you cannot do logical ANDs or ORs. You get hundreds of replies that cannot be sorted by date or relevance. As far as I can see the graphics on the website have been redesigned but nothing has been done to improve information retrieval.Try getting to the press/news releases area (it was easier in the old implementation). And as for details of up-and-coing council and committee meetings, forget ir! It looks like the Labour Group are trying to make it as difficult as possible for us to find out what is going on in Ealing Council itself (or is it Southall Council now?).

Leaflet through the door, all over the Council website, e-mails from local councillors, in the local paper, how much more notice do we need?
