One law for the rich,....

If someone puts up a piece of paper with a picture of a lost pet they are prosecuted. If someone puts up a huge advertising hoarding the planning department goes tut tut and they are left to get on with it. Just have a look along the Western Avenue. One of the latest to go up close to Gypsy Corner is so bright that it way outshines the street lighting, and I found it painful as I drove past last night even though I only saw it through the corner of my eye and did not need to look straight at it.

That'll be Ingrid Smith, Head of Planning Enforcement, Noel Rutherford, Director for the Built Environment, Keith Townsend, Executive Director for the Environment and Customer Services, and Martin Smith, Chief Exective of Ealing Council who did the process on the Waitrose sign on this in terms of chain-of-responsibility. All four are part of what Maggie in Phil Taylor's blog forum so aptly describes as Ealing Council's "Teflon 100", the top earning executives who are being protected from redundancy while the libraries are closed and Ealing Borough crumbles.

We have a tall, residential tower block just next to West Ealing Station which has a huge Waitrose sign on it.Waitrose erected the sign without planning permission and when we complained Ealing Coucil just nodded it through.
