Ealing Car Rental (UK) Co Ltd

Has anybody used this company in Lionel Road and have any feedback?

They also seem to be registered at #4 Station BUILDING (not Station Parade).  Nando's is #1-2, Yarez (the kebab shop) is #3, then you have Ealing Common Station (no number) and then at #4 you have West 5 Cars (mini-cabs), Ealing Car Rental, and Granville Car & Van Hire all at the same little shop.  I did notice on their web site that you can enter your credit card details online, but WITHOUT the secure lock symbol at the bottom of the page.  Several years ago, there used to be an individual who sold newspapers and took in dry cleaning inside the station itself.  He also had a van he used to rent out.  I think he may have called himself Granville Van rentals.  He used to park the van on Granville next to the Harvester.  Just interesting history maybe.

Interesting Simon, are you built like a rower!? I have gathered a few similar experiences now and I can't comment on big companies, not heard similar stories about them, personally.  This guy, however, doesn't pay up when ordered to do so by the court and apparently in other situations threatens people with his dog, if they try to argue, so I think he is in a league of his own, and not to be dismissed.

I've hired from them a few times. A van a few times for my rowing club and a car for a day. I have worried a few times when watching the bloke checking them out and back in. That said, I've not had any problems with them. They do have a slightly haphazard feel but I guess you have to be so careful with hiring from any company. Insist on walking around with the guy checking out the car and make sure everything is noted, no matter how small it might seem at the time. I'm sure you'll hear similar tales from the big companies as well.

Thank you John.  A friend has had a similar problem but sadly paid in cash and is currently going through the court system, but it is very slow.  I believe they found in his favour but he still can't get his money back.  I think yours and any other similar responses will be helpful to him.  Thank you.

Yes, they're a bunch of con men. Steer well clear. They kept £300 for 'alleged' damage to a van I hired from them. They got very nasty when I argued my case. It took months for me to get my money back from my credit card company.Search for 'car rental' on this and the Chiswickw4 site for other similar experiences.Whoever you hire from pay the extra ins so that you're covered if you do have an accident because they can always find damage that you haven't spotted when you inspect it before hire!
