New Charity Shop in West Ealing

I noticed this on Ux Rd the other day - it's for DebRA. The shop's at the "Hanwell" end . I hope they do well - they have some nice stuff but my word it's expensive compared with some of the others,

I think charity shops are getting the Mary Portas syndrome without the shop to match!  So thus charging higher prices as a result.  I dropped some stuff off at DeBra yesterday -Good luck to them; its a big shop to fill.

We had a similar problem in my area - bags were piled up outside the shop, then people would go through everything and scatter the contents all over the pavement and up the side streets!Fortunately this shop has now gone and relocated to another location!

Every morning in West Ealing, there are a few people that collect the bags of clothes left outside charity shops and go through them in the alleyways and service roads.Is this theft? I think so.They certainly leave alot of mess and it all goes in the roadsweepers bag.I told one of them once that I thought his actions unfair. He started ranting at me and followed me back into my shop. I took his photo. Thats a good way of getting unwanted visitors to leave.. take their photo, even if you just pretend to with your phone, it normally works.Is this illegal? oh well...

I agree Jean. Chiswick prices are ridiculous. But then maybe Chiswick residents don't notice?

The worst offenders are in Chiswick I think!Some of these Charity Shops will be putting potential customers off when they overprice the items.The charity they represent will surely suffer in the end?

I like both of them in Pitshanger and we give everything to the PDSA shop because they don't overcharge. I also love the MAPF shop in South Ealing Road - often have really classy stuff and not over priced.

I agree!  I think the PDSA and YMCA are good. And there's one in Pitshanger that does samples sometimes. You have to be a regular and go in them a lot,

I think some charity shops will price themselves out of business. I understand the wish to make money for the good cause but these things have been donated in good faith and the intention (when I give anyway)is that people can buy things at affordable prices. They do compete with the likes of Primark and should remember that. A tatty washed out shapeless t-shirt isn't worth 4 or 5 pounds !
