Mystery noise

Has anyone else noticed a very high-pitched continuous whistling noise over the last two or three nights in the South Ealing area? It seems to happen in the late evening, night and early morning. I mentioned it to a fellow dog-walker this morning and she has been hearing it in Boston Manor and has been kept awake by it. Both of our dogs are refusing to go out in the garden when it is happening.

Helen,The Northfield councillors were knocking on doors in Blondin and Niagara Avenues on Saturday morning.  A lady on the north side of Blondin adjacent to the Tube depot complained about a high pitched noise late at night lasting some time.  As she was the only person who mentioned it I was not as concerned as perhaps I should have been.  Please let me know if it keeps up.

A high frequency sound will bounce around the buildings so you need to listen from several locations such as road junctions, best if you can use something like a roll of paper to act as an ear trumpet.
