Use Town Hall accommodation for day centres rather than for arts centre!

If indeed the day centres that are closed are not fit for purpose as the Labour Group makes out they are then perhaps suitable accommodation could be found in the Town Hall proper. Rather than starting an arts centre in there we could use the space for day centres and other facilities for the disabled. This would be true regeneration as we would be regenerating the day centres that we clearly badly need rather than starting something new.Surely arty types of Ealing would not begrudge the disabled?Oh, and throw in the £500,000 earmarked for the skateboard and you could provide some very approriate facilities. Indeed, as some of our disabled are ex-servicemen it would be appropriate for heroes!Any takers?

we do not need an arts centre as much as we need day centres for the disabled and mentally ill. This is an excellent idea.

Just make an amendment on the cost of the skate park: it is £200,000.

Could I please clarify that the money allocated three years ago now for the skate-park is NOT £500K, as suggested here, but £200.00. I would also like to point out that you cannot move around money allocated to one department, especially if it has been earmarked for a specific scheme or project, to another. In the case of the skate park, from the Children Services Dept. to the Adults Services one (under which remit falls day centres, meals on wheels and so on).

For that matter, if we are about to spend £5 million on refurbishing the riding stables and manor house in Gunnersbury Park could not these buildings be used for day centres for the disabled. One in the Town Hall, and one in Gunnersbury Park?
