If I take your reply as a serious reply, then UK.PLC really does need some help. You are already using Free Open Source Software, the internet would not work without it.There is a huge amount of free software available, mainly designed to be used on Unix compatible systems designed from the beginning as a secure multi-user shared system. It is usually written in a high level language that can be compiled to run on any hardware with only minor adjustments. It provides a choice of window managers, (each accompanied by a basic selection of software), for those who need one, although it is not always necessary to run one, for example on a server. There may be a need to run some kind of virus detection if it is linked to computers running Microsoft.Software packages such as WINE ("Wine Is Not an Emulator") can run some software originally written for Microsoft.Microsoft will happily run in a virtual computer provided by Free Open Source Software, if you really wish to inflict pain on yourself.
