Are Driving instructors in need of L plates themselves
I have always understood that there are very precise rules on display of L Plates.I am aware bikers especially get penalised if they have trimmed the plate to fit better by the index plate.Yet twice in one evening I have seen independent driving instructors with customised vehicles seemingly in breach in the local areaOne had just a red L affixed to the greyish colour of the car and no white background.Another had a roof cone but again the red L was visible in the off white whole thing but there was no custom square to conform. As driving school vehicles they can leave plates on when not instructing unlike the local Mum or Dad who has to take the plates off when learner not present. Most national schools use very clear markings - but these local ones could be making up their own rulesand if they do that what else are they making up?are they properly and currently registered with DSA and so authorised to take fees for instruction? Is the licence displayed on windscreen?do they have adequate insurance cover?Should we have a local register easily accessible so you can see who is considered fit and proper to instruct on Ealing roads . If these people are in breach we should contact the DSA. Do you want your loved ones taught by someone evading requirements.
