Tinned Plums

Does anyone know where I can buy tinned plums? Local supermarkets don't seem to have them. Have found most other types of tinned fruit, inc. tinned coconut and tinned banana's (Chinese shop in Earls Court) - but no plums.TIAChris

Thanks to all who responded. Was in Chiswick this morning and found John West tinned plums in the big Sainsburys.

I think Harrods may be going a bit too far. I have just checked Tesco's online and they don't appear to carry tinned plums - Asda might though.

I note that Sainsburys and also Ocado have plums for online ordering. As only want a couple of tins was hoping to pick them up in store somewhere. Fosters appear to be wholesalers to traditional British food stores. Found some online, who export to guess ex-pat Brits.Will try some larger Sainsburys, and maybe Harrods.

They are on the Sainsburys website for delivery - not sure which Sainsburys serves Ealing in terms of delivery - I imagine Alperton so I would guess there. I notice someone has stated that John West don't supply to Sainsburys anymore - well they certainly were this weekend.

I am by no means a plum aficionado but, by strange coincidence , I recently learned that John West no longer supplies Sainsbury.Apparently it's up Tesco, Waitrose and Fosters stores (whatever they are) to, ahem, carry the can(s).Happy hunting!

Thanks for replies. Not sure how to take having my plums in a can. :-) Have seen fresh plums, but quite expensive at moment, and suspect they are probably hard and little flavour.Tried various Arab, Chinese shops without luck for tinned plums. Will try and get to Chiswick Sainsburys.

Maybe he just likes his plums in a can?Had a quick look in Cudi for you Chris, couldn't see them there.  They had tinned prunes and fresh plums?

I would have said so, but I dont' think they are in season at the moment - well not English ones.

Thanks Trizia. We had tried West Ealing Sainsbury, and they didn't have tinned plums, ditto for local Waitrose and Tesco. Where have you seen the plums?Will try and get over to the big Sainsbury in Chiswick and have a look there.Chris
