Foxes in recycle bins

How can i stop foxes getting into my food recycle bin? Any ideas anyone?

Did u know that by fliping the handle you can lock the Recycling Bin!

Fingers crossed that this works. Mind you we are close to the end of Foxy Loxy's mating time so the garden should get quieter.I tried using lion poo in my garden as was told this was a deterrant for cats, unfortunately the cats round my way were big bruisers and didn't bat a whisker!

Have put down Wild Animal Repellant by a company called Growing Success and Foxy Loxy hasn't been seen for a few days now.  It will have to be applied again and again but at least the Lord household can get a decent nights sleep.

Is there anything that Tufty doesn't like eating? Seems to me they have broadened their natural diet of nuts and berries. Perhaps the council should introduce a recycling bin / sack that deters the little critters.

The ones that hang out in my garden also stuff themselves on my Tulip Bulbs.

Not sure the Farmer's Market would take them, after all could they be considered free-range, organic or whatever the new term is nowadays, after all they do forage amongst out bins etc.

Why not use a fox to catch the squirrels?All the squirrels need is a bit of encouragement to come to ground level away from trees.Never eaten squirrel but hedgehog is quite tasty!

Lawnmowers are better, more humane for the pusher, and disposal requires nothing more than a hose pipe.

That bloke eats almost anything.There are plenty of squirrel shaped targets around, they just keep moving.....Are there any forum members who are in possession of the required equipment and would like the chance to practise?Perhaps we could sell them down the farmers market one Saturday, local produce, free range, ticks all the boxes.

That part doesn't appeal to me either - even though have seen the Hugh Fearnley whatisname cook it. Perhaps practise with a squirrel shaped target might help?

Problem with an air rifle is that you have to make a direct hit to the head otherwise it scampers off and starves to death.Then I have to dispose of the carcass and I although the meat is said to be good, its not for me.

Foxes and Squirrels are nothing but a nuisance.Cute from a distance granted, but digging up bulbs, scenting everything, keeping people awake at night, going through bins and generally doing foxy stuff.Just marked out my territory with some repellent, I pay the mortgage and bills, Foxy doesn't contribute anything, so fingers crossed it's the last I'm going to see of Mr Brush for a few weeks.Then I will get even with Tufty, Nutty and pals.G

Never had any problem.  Is anybody else?  You are locking it aren't you?  I find it more convenient to keep it under the sink to collect the peelings.  Now that we have no carrier bags to speak of there is space.

Assuming the food box is outside, unless one leaves a house door open to admit foxes, then a "slosh" of chlorine bleach will deter a fox as would having a largish  guard dog. Using the latter would probably command a visit from the local beadle though.I thought foxes were recycled in red boxes.

Use a product such as "Scoot" or "Get off my garden".Don't know if they work yet, but this year my garden will not be used by Foxy as a knocking shop!G
