Wooden Floor Repairs and Sanding

Hello all,Just a quick query to request some advice/recommendations. I'm looking to get my wooden floor refurbished (sanding, varnishing, repairs, gaps filled, etc.) - can anyone recommend a company to do the work.  I'm (obviously!) interesting in hearing from previously satisfied customers...Many thanks - have to do this before we freeze in the winter!

Lee - I can recommend the company we used recently.  They did a fantastic job and have also done floorboards for friends of ours locally as well, who were also very pleased.I'm not sure I should be posting any contact details on this forum so if you/someone can suggest how I get this info to you?  The company concerned is a small operation so doesn't have a website I can refer you to.

If you've had carpet or lino down you'll need to lift it and allow the wood to dry and shrink before standing and sealing.If you don't you'll be back to square one.

You have a floor made of planks which started at the same thickness but have warped, and you think that thinning them down to stop them looking warped will help reduce heat loss? If you want to increase insulation you add another layer on top, and if that is to be carpet you can add an underlay. If you want it to continue to look like a wooden floor and increase insulation you could lay an additional layer of wood (perhaps real or artificial thin planks) at right angles to the original.
