Least favoured dinner party guests and cuisine

What would be your idea of dinner party hell........Who would you loathe to be at dinner with? Didn't George W Bush hate broccoli?He said "my mum made me eat it when I was a child and now as president of the United States I'll eat eat what I want."This caused the US broccoli growers to send him 2 tons of the stuff!Poor chap!

Food? don't anyone provide any BROCCOLI!!! Nor Polenta, I always thought that this was a Spanish dance. Ah well! you live and learn. Yes, a room full of politicians.the perfect excrutiating evening but I do think some physical violence or threat thereof would spice it up a bit. Mike Tyson really could chew your ear off !Polenta.........too inoffensive surely........boring yes but foul no.

AMJA - Politicans of all kinds operate on the "Do as I say, not as I do" principle, and to some extent most of us average mortals do the same in our own lives. Many of us don't practice what we preach. Anyway, it wouldn't be a fun dinner party if one of the guest was subject to a verbal flaying. Eating polenta is similar to eating hay - I mean, why would you when there are so many other delicious choices? Other least favoured foods - deep fried Mars bars and Heston Blumenthal's snail porridge. Yuk.Sara - Jordan is now more famous for her reality shows, her books and her new range of pink riding gear for kids. She is a very shrewd businesswoman and I think the boobs were part of a long term business strategy to get her into the millionaire bracket.

I like it when it's sloppy (with a strong tomato sauce and bits of mozzarella) but it's also nice when set hard, and then sliced and grilled and served with something a bit saucy (bolognese sauce works well). Adding some dried herbs and chopped garlic to the water and simmering for 10 mins before adding the polenta gives it some extra flavour.I like semolina as well when it's not too milky tasting. Maybe that could be dessert.

Guests I'd like:Diane AbbottPerhaps you could ask her why, as a dyed in the wool socialist, she sends her son to a private school, whilst extoling the benefits of a state education is good for the plebs. Why not ask Michael Portillo to accompany her, although diametrically opposed to each other politically (allegedly!)they make a lovely couple don't you think?

Sara - It might make for a lively evening watching the male intellectuals' intellect fighting their hormones! Also if any/all the authors present would have the courage/humility to congratulate her on her enormous success in the bestseller lists. Imagine Paxman being humble. Har!
