History of London Central Group Grill in Northfield Ave?

Does anyone know the history of this one-time restaurant/cafe. I can only remember it as being closed.  It's on the east side of Northfield Ave near the entrance to Lammas Park just before the Saab (?) showroom as you walk south toward the station.  We've been asked this on the West Ealing Neighbours website and I feel sure some of the regular posters here will know.Many thanks

Yeah shame it couldn't have been re-opened in some form but the site was getting increasingly run down so maybe it's for the best

There's a planning application up to convert it into 4 flatsChange of use of A3 use at ground floor to create 4 residential (C3) units (1x1 studio, 2x1 bedroom units and 1x2 bedroom unit) demolition of existing rear extensions + erection of a part single / part two storey extension; further basement excavation to increase existing basement and creation of lightwell; removal of shop frontage and erection of two storey front projection bay windows; Relocation of entrance at ground floor to side elevation; Extension to floor and associated conversion of loft into habitable space and one rooflight.

Yes, Emma's right. They argue (or used to) in the street . I'm 49 and ever since I was a child, it's been closed up like that. I imagine they must be quite elderly and so I gues it will only change when they die.........

I remember a thread about this place a while back.  Something to do with a husband and wife who havent spoken to each other for twenty or so more years, and their argument is about the cafe - I think they live upstairs.  Anyway I also have lived here for twenty years and have always been intrigued by the site.  Also the fact that the geraniums in the window have survived so long, yetI've never seen anyone water them.

I've lived her 20 odd years and its always been closed. Shame as it has a 50's 60's diner kind of look to the place. Notice the local yobs have thrown a couple of bricks through the windows :-(
