any chemistry experts ??

There was a really good tip on another local forum last week about cleaning cashmere woolies  and I thought I'd give it a try. The solution you use involves isopropyl alcohol. When I tried to look this up it mentions that it's "a solvent". I have acrylic coated nails ........ will it end in tears? I didn't do science at school, I opted for latin instead - if you have the answer I'll happily conjugate a verb of your choice in return.

Dentists use the gloves too - oral examination! I didn't think of that when I wrote earlier. %)I forgot to mention - the gloves come in a pack of 20 or more for your pound, 99p, or less.If you find they are a bit sticky getting on or off rub talcum powder on your hands before use.And make sure your nails aren't too sharp!

"rectal examination? I have kinda gone orf the whole thing now! I shall try Hanwell's 99p shop (!) and see if they have any latex gloves :o)

Play safe and use a physical barrier such as a latex glove - the type one sees on TV just before a rectal examination. The gloves are often seen in the pound shops. Propan-2-ol from a pharmacy about £5 for 500ml. It's very good for cleaning tape heads in reel-to-reel and cassette recorders, too.Don't use a barrier such as petroleum jelly (Vaseline). It'll wash off.There is a chance that if isopropanol (propan-2-ol) comes into contact with acrylic finishes that those finishes will become matte.Don't worry about the Latin, I only know three phrases:nil illegitimi carborundum - RAF from my fatherpaulatim ergo certe - my school's mottofide et literis - my son's school motto.
