We used a local carpenter, Will Cottrell (07831 390692), for wardrobes, cupboards and a large desk in our loft conversion, who did a very good job. We have since used him to do our kitchen extension (a mix of customised Ikea units and lots of fitted cupboards made by him).I'm not sure what you mean by a small dormer; we've got a full-width rear dormer with brick walls and sash windows - as have both our neighbours - so our experience might not be completely relevant, but....At the sloping front in ours we put in full width low level (about 70cm) cupboards, which stick out a bit so that there is a shelf above them (but as the space is otherwise unusable, this doesn't matter). Behind them is an insulated door (big enough to crawl through) to the roof-space.There are also large cupboards/wardrobes on the side wall. I've also got several drawer/storage units on castors for fitting under the full-width desk, which make the space pretty flexible. I use it as an office, but it's designed to be just as easily used as a bedroom.
