Unfortunately Ewa, Joanna is right in some of what she says. We are not talking here about getting roads swept or getting smaller wheelie bins delivered, but rather about social intervention and social support. There is presently legislation going through Parliament (I have been told) that will force local councils to provide housing for single people as at present there is no legal requirement for them to do so, however, once children are involved the situation changes. If you Google the press you will find that some councils in the UK are telling homeless single people to sleep rough on the streets so that charities can help them. The 'tactics' that you mention to get help from the council as a property owner, do these, perchance involve being economical with the truth or codding things up? Please bear in mind that people who have learning difficulties, some disabled, the ill, those with alzeimers or dementia may not be up to, or capable of, the gamesmanship that you indulge in to get things out of the council. Perhaps if there is an interested local councillor reading this forum they might look into what you have managed to get out of the council through the use of your 'tactics' and whether you were actually entitled to them?I have friends who have waited for long periods of time to get council accomoodation (some successfully) who have had to wait very long periods of time, or are still waiting, because the migrant influx, especially those with families, are automatically prioritised over single people, or even people in inadequate social family accommodation, means that they are forever de-prioritised when a new migrant family enters the borough. Some of the council housing officials are quite honoest about the challenges that you face and if you do not believe Joanna or myself then perhaps you should ask them, they do their best, however, government guidelines overule everything.I have heard councillors bemoaning the levels of support, even those following say, damage through burglary and break ins to the least well off as council budgets are cut in all areas.
