Health clinic moving

Ealing Primary Care Trust(EPCT) have written to us(as registered patients) to say that Mattock Lane Health Centre is gonna be moved(in Spring/Summer 2009) to a brand new primary care centre based in the Daniels store building on the Ubridge Road in West Ealing.Is this a good move?

If anyone is interested in finding out more about the plans for moving health services into the Daniels building you're very welcome to come to West Ealing Neighbours' public meeting on Thursday 24th April. We have Marie Pemberton from the local NHS Trust speaking about their plans for Daniels and the Mattock Lane site and she's very willing to answer questions.The meeting is in Dean Hall in Williams Road (off Singapore Rd and behind Wilkinson's) and it starts at 7.30pm.  We also have speakers about the regeneration of West Ealing; the new street trading policy which should tackle the shops that stray too far onto the pavement with their stalls; and a speaker explaining the Council's policy for licensing shops to sell alcohol - of which there are very many in West Ealing.More details are on our website at www.westealingneighbours.org.uk

I did hear a suggestion that there are restrictions on the use of the Mattock Lane Surgery site which would preclude the massive overdevelopment that we have all come to loath.  Hope it is so.

At the moment apart from the usual GP services there are number very interesting ideas being talked about , but nothing confirmed yet. As EPCT are very interested to hear from current patients and residents in the area with ideas, which they will be considering.I understand that ALL current patients amost residents in the area and cuurent service users have been informed via a letter. More information will be out (to the public)as they are becoming firmer. The targeted time for openning will be around Autumn 2009.Hopefully with the help of the patients and local residents the transfer and openning will be MUCH smoother than T5 have been.

I do hope you're right Jim. Thanks for keeping us in touch. What extra health services/facilities do you think would be most deirable to have added to the new health centre in Daniels building? Will there be extra facilities/clinics for the elderly?

Gerry,i am in touch with Ealing PCT on this and will reporting back to the forum as to any public/patients involvement in this development. Theer will be some interesting and beneficial ideas about the type of services discussed at a meeting with EPCT earlier this week.As far as the original site is concern EPCT may not have any say in who or waht should be replacing it. Its up to whoever buying it to decide. However, as good practice both LBE Planning as well as ny good Developer should consult the locals about their plans.

"Just hope that an imaginative use for the existing surgery is included in the plans."The site of the existing Mattock Lane Health Centre is prime land.  My guess is that some developer has already been lined up and that it'll be an enormous block of quality apartments.  Whadya think Robin?

Brilliant move!  The first thing in years to address the impact of cumulative development on provision on health services for all the new flats in this area.Ever since Daniel reneged on their commitment to move back into the store after rebuilding, those of us living nearby have dreaded the prospect of what could happen.  A supersurgery with lots of complementary services is a great idea.There is parking on site for when Daniel was going to be a shop, addressing most of the concerns about cars (and if a few more spaces were needed, there is now no need for Daniel to build their planned warehouse and lorry access alongside).  There's lots of public transport along the Uxbridge Road, and it is only four minutes walk from the existing Mattock Lane surgery.Just hope that an imaginative use for the existing surgery is included in the plans.
