We've made the news chaps!!

There were at least 20 or 30 people there and it was on the local BBC TV news yesterday. One of our members (of West Ealing Neighbours) was there and said the atmosphere was electric (no pun intended) and the workmen were very pleasant and eventually moved off.  It has caused a huge stir in Hanwell as residents feel very strongly about their heritage.  You can read all about it on the Ealing Times site where there are nearly 50 comments on the story - http://www.ealingtimes.co.uk/news/localnews/display.var.2186764.0.it_is_taking_away_our_heritage.php#commentsWest Ealing Neighbours is a founder member of SEAL (Save Ealing's Antique Lampposts) and SEAL has been fighting to retain as many original lampposts as possible.  Full details about SEAL and our campaign are on our website at www.westealingneighbours.org.uk

Thanks Samantha-Jane. I like a deepfelt protest march occasionally, followed by a nice lunch.  not only does it lift my soul and conscience, but it satisfies my belly. :-)

Oh, sorry about that Gerry. It was a piece on the BBC news website about the removal of the heritage lampposts in Hanwell.  It said some of the residents protested as contractors started removing the posts....I didn't mean protest as in a big rally with whistles and marches!!  I feel strongly about our historic architecture slowly disappearing and would have gone along and shown my support.....  Perhaps the news over-inflated the story - anyone else know??
