Building on Flood Plains

I see that The Insurance Companies are voicing disquiet at the Governments insistance on building more homes in areas of natural flooding. Apparently 123 schemes have been approved, madness? in denial or what?

We all have opinions about flood plain building. However for people in doubt ask your insurance company in advance for the price of insurance for your new house built on a flood plain.

Ealing Council leader, Councillor Peter Mason is a trained town planner holding a Master’s in Urban Regeneration from the Bartlett School of Planning (part of University College London). While he was studying there, does anyone know if he wrote a thesis on how to build on a flood plain, and then blame some one else when all goes wrong afterwards?

Hello, I grew up in Perivale but now live in Bermuda.My house here is named "Perivale".Despite having lived here for 64 years, my love & visits to Perivale, Greenford, are of life value.My gut feeling about Gurnell work is:  "DON'T"  build !Any closure of the valuable flood plain would be gross stupidty.

It will no doubt bring the price of houses down.  Only wouldn't it be more sensible to make sure that the housing that we already have is being lived in?

Its absolute INSANITY to build on areas that are likely to flood....If you parked your car and another motorist stoved in to it....would you park in the same place again???

Bottom of Argyle Road, Ruislip Road East used to be prone to flooding when I lived round there Gerry, the 'Old Boys' of the late 19th Century had more sense and built up on Castlebar Hill etc.

Which areas and roads in Ealing are known to be prone to flooding?  Would house insurance be particularly high or impossible in these areas?
