Ealing poet and painter

Does anyone know if the LB of Ealing has a resident poet and/or fine artist?

Penny, I know Bert Wright's work - an excellent painter - he would ideed be a perfect contender to be our very own Ealing's resident painter. About five years ago, I quite by chance saw a Bert Wright painting in the little art showroom opposite St Mary's church.  ;-)

Hi Gerry, a few years ago (in the 80s) we bought a very pretty watercolour of St Mary's church because I was both married and christened there. It was by an artist called Bert Wright whose work was of a good standard. He has exhibited at the Royal Acedemy etc. Haven't googled him to see if he's still alive but most of his work was of Ealing andhe was president (at one time) of the Ealing Art Society. He might be a good contender.

"Why do you ask Gerry???"I read recently with amusement, that some Local Authorities have appointed their own poets and artists-in-resident and wondered if our Council might be thinking of doing the same. I understand they are appointed on an honorarium, so it wouldn't be a strain on our limited Borough funds. I'm loathed to write to our Council as they're so busy keeping our streets clean etc and wondered if anyone knew of such a delightful possibility. I might contact the Ealing Civic Society - they might know.

Im not a bad poet....depends on what sort of poem you want...And my brother is a seriously fantastic artist.Why do you ask Gerry???
