Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot are called the Three Cities as they are basically joined together but are three separate entities.Gdansk is largest city of the three and is like any other large place.Sopot is the Brighton (with the Grand Hotel), with beach, bars, etc - but you are going during the winter so it might be a tad blustery due it being on the Baltic coast.Gdynia is the port/shipyard. Solidarity rings a bell probably. Also, you can catch a ferry to a little place on the opposite peninsula called Hel - so you can say you have been to Hel and back.Cheap hotels, cheap shopping and something different.
